The Chrob ou Chouf fountain is located in the Central Medina near to the Marrakech Museum and our Marrakech Riad Cinnamon. Built under the Saadian dynasty around 1600 the arabic name translates literally as ‘Drink and Look’.

As Marrakech expanded fountains provided essential drinking water for new neighbourhoods transported via a complex system of underground passages from sources high in the Atlas mountains. Today all homes in Marrakech have mains water but the fountains remain an important social focus and provide an impressive  reminder of the wealth and power of previous generations that built the City.

Our Marrakech Riads are perfectly placed to explore the old town Medina, reserve accommodation today!
