Lucie Wood one of the owners of Marrakech Riad is vegetarian. In fact she is a third generation vegetarian following both her mother and grandmother.

If you are visiting Marrakech stay in one of our Magical Riads,  Riad Papillon and Riad Cinnamon in the heart of the ancient Medina.  You can be sure that you will eat wonderful vegetarian and vegan food. Lucie’s favourites for dinner are vegetable pastilla (Moroccoan stuffed filo pastry parcel) and the classic seven vegetable cous cous. Don’t miss the cheese and vegetable browattes (delicious finger food almost like a spring roll) and a huge variety of fresh salads made from seasonal vegetables.

The kitchen shops and cooks for individually each guest (ideally menus are discussed a day in advance). Special dietary requirements such as gluten free are easily catered for and the Riad also offers a variety of traditional Moroccan dishes using fish and meat. Don’t delay reserve accommodation today!

This outstanding Moroccan restaurant is staffed exclusively by women and is run as a workers cooperative. Al Fassia means literally the women from Fez and the menu includes a number of specialties from the Fez region. The menu is a la carte and our favorite dishes are the intricate Pastilla and the superb slow roasted shoulder of lamb with almonds served for two people.

From the Medina take a taxi to the new town of Guiliez, in the unlikely event that your taxi driver does not know Al Fassia ask them to drop you at the landmark Cafe Negociants on the Avenue Mohammed V. The restaurant is a few hundred yards down the road to the right. Expect to pay 600 to 800 Dirhams for two people.

Al Fassia is not an undiscovered gem! It is deservedly very busy. Your Marrakech Riad staff will be able to help you to make a reservation.
