30000th free meal served by the Henna Cafe

On Friday we served our 30,000th meal working with the Marrakechi people to ensure that 150 of the most needy people can have a nutritious meal.

We were delighted that Vanessa Branson of El Fenn joined with friends, staff and volunteers at the Henna Cafe to serve the 30,000th meal in person.

Vanessa is well known for her philanthropic work in Marrakech and beyond. She founded the Biennale Arts festival in Marrakech which has supported many local artists as well as being an attraction for art lovers all over the world. She renovated the beautiful El Fenn which is adorned with art pieces from local artists. She has also served on the British Moroccan Society for many years helping to support opportunities for social, cultural, educational, business and charitable activities between the UK and Morocco. In the UK she supports art workshops at her B&B on her beautiful Scottish island, Eilean Shona.

Vanessa not only helped to prepare the meals which was lovely support for our staff but she also accepted an offer to join with our transport partners Pikala bicyles and she delivered harira soup (flavoured with donated saffron) to the more inaccessible places within the medina.

Thank you to Vanessa for generously giving her time to visit us and offer her support. Everyone is very grateful.

We are all “Working together to make a difference.”
