50 000th meal at the Henna Cafe Marrakech

On January 19th the henna cafe association was honored by the presence of the Pasha of Marrakech who supported the Soup Kitchen by serving their 50,000th meal from the cafe.

There were two television crews including Morocco World News at the cafe to capture the moment and help support their efforts by spreading the word and encouraging donations to their ‘gofundme’ page. Click on this link below if you would like to donate: https://www.gofundme.com/f/henna-cafe-soup-kitchen   or get in touch with our team if you have any questions.

Alan Keohane, professional photographer and chairman of the British Business Association Marrakech, and Ahmed Nait, Director of Time Tours and member of the British Moroccan society were at the event to capture the moment and offer their support.

We would also like to thank Colin Bosworth of Bosworth Property, Marrakech who started donating food parcels to families and from whose roots the Soup Kitchen grew; Chantal from Pikala bikes for tirelessly distributing meals to the furthest reaches of the medina; Nutritionist Lin Ducker and other experts who have helped to create of our cost-effective and nutritious meals and the many neighbours and businesses who have contributed food and services to the Henna Cafe over the past two years.

We would also like to thank our team of both riad staff and Henna Cafe staff who have worked flexibly, diligently, and carefully throughout the past couple of years.

Finally we would like to thank you, our donors and supporters, without whom none of this would even be possible.

Would you like to join our support team?

1. Donating to our GOFUNDME page. As little as $2 buys 4 meals! $10 =20, $50 =100, $100 = around 200 meals!

2. Sharing this page with your contacts.

3. Donate excess nutritious food and kitchen implements, help with transport from wholesalers, food prep and cleaning etc.

4. Plan a trip to Morocco when travel becomes possible (very soon we hope) to help restart the trickle-down tourist economy here. If you are in Marrakech then drop into the Henna Cafe and say hello!
