Al Fassia restaurant, Marrakech

This outstanding Moroccan restaurant is staffed exclusively by women and is run as a workers cooperative. Al Fassia means literally the women from Fez and the menu includes a number of specialties from the Fez region. The menu is a la carte and our favorite dishes are the intricate Pastilla and the superb slow roasted shoulder of lamb with almonds served for two people.

From the Medina take a taxi to the new town of Guiliez, in the unlikely event that your taxi driver does not know Al Fassia ask them to drop you at the landmark Cafe Negociants on the Avenue Mohammed V. The restaurant is a few hundred yards down the road to the right. Expect to pay 600 to 800 Dirhams for two people.

Al Fassia is not an undiscovered gem! It is deservedly very busy. Your Marrakech Riad staff will be able to help you to make a reservation.
