Ait Ben Haddou is top of UNESCO sites within Africa.

African media outlet site Afrika News has ranked the Moroccan Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou in Ouarzazate as one of the top four most distinguished UNESCO heritage sites across Africa.

The famous Kasbah made it to the top of the list ahead of Victoria Falls , Kenya’s lake system, and the Namib Sand Sea.

The report stated that “Morocco is one of the most appealing touristic [locations] in Africa that encompasses several interesting areas such as  Aït Ben Haddou.”

A UNESCO site since 1987, Aït Ben Haddou is a stunning example of the resilient earthen clay architecture in the southeast of Morocco.

Given its unique architecture, the village of Ait Ben Haddou has attracted many tourists and is often used as a location for top Hollywood movies such as Lawrence of Arabia, The Jewel of the Nile, Babel, Prince of Persia, and the television series Games of Thrones.

A visit to the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou is a great excursion to make for visitors to Marrakech. Please ask our staff to arrange a driver to take you across the stunning Mountain pass of the Tizi n’Tichka and onward to this rich historical village. If you require a guide upon arrival to walk in the ancient Ksour with you this can also be arranged, leaving you to enjoy a day immersed in the history of the rich Saharan trade routes, Camels, dates, and exotic traded finery.
